Pontypool is a 2008 film, directed by Bruce McDonald, and I can only categorize it as linguistic zombie-psychothriller. The film adapted by the novel "Pontypool Changes Everything", written by Tony Burgess.
Grant Mazzy (Stephen McHattie) is a once succesful, burned-out shock jock, who are now working as the announcer of the small Canadian town, Pontypool's radio station. One day, as he makes his usual, but - for a small town like this - a bit weird jokes in studio, strange things starts to happen. Ordinary people starts to repeat words, or speak unintelligently, blood-thirsty masses attacks everyone, and everything, and soon Mazzy, a young technician girl (Georgina Reilly), and the station manager (Lisa Houle) find themselves trapped in the studio, while a language-based virus sweeping across Pontypool.
The titles are very impressive. At first, we see sound waves, like in an oscilloscope, while Grant Mazzy talking about coherences hiding in different languages. After that, a circle-shaped hole stretches out the middle of the waves, revealing a thick snowfall. The title's simple, red letters randomly appearing from the blur.
